Will high-altitude winters damage the stone?
Not when the base is built correctly. The main reason patios crack or shift around here is moisture trapped under the stone that expands during winter freezes. We excavate deep enough to replace reactive native soil with clean, crushed aggregate bases, layer in mechanical compaction, and route surface water away. That gives the hardscape room to handle frost without heaving.
